:*A Google document will take you step by step, How to Edit the Wiki; message Mary S for a link.
There is a preference for using sentence case--capitalized as if in a sentence---for the reason that it saves editors a little effort when embedding links if the capitalization matches the caps in the sentence where you want to add the link. This is only a suggestion that as a rule is sometimes overlooked, and that is not a big deal. [[User:Mary s|Mary s]] ([[User talk:Mary s|talk]]) 10:08, 25 September 2016 (PDT)

If you cut the beginning of a sentence from your quote, with a full sentence remaining, just capitalize the first word in the new (partial) sentence, no ellipses points (...) needed. I am using Discussion pages as holding places for undecided content, such as outlines or unattributed/unverified quotations. For example [[Talk:The Messenger]], where I'm jotting down the references cited during the Messenger's Vigil so we can review this most important page for completeness and correct emphasis. I'm using my own discussion page ([[User talk:Mary s]]) to hold notes and suggestions from others. --[[User:Mary s|Mary s]] 08:42, 3 March 2014 (PST)

[[Main Page]] The corridors need to link to categories, right? Following example of category:God ? Categories are listed on help page (search box only brings up 9 of 11). Alternatively, my preference actually, a "see also" link at the bottom of the corridor's main entrance, the page of that title.

::::Better if the corridor links go to pages instead of categories. I'll change that. I don't think "See also" is redundant, since it's tailored page by page to take people to closely related pages that may not be in the same category.-Will[[User:WikiAdmin|WikiAdmin]] 18:35, 7 December 2011 (PST)

::Note: based on Will's concern (and the perplexing difficulty sometimes in locating a quote missing its attribution!), it is o.k. to combine paragraphs in order to avoid the chance they might get separated or any question arise about the source of a paragraph. The only exception has been where formatting tools rearrange the text on the read page but the edit page clearly contains the excerpt as a unity, with no paragraph breaks.[[User:Mary s|Mary s]] ([[User talk:Mary s|talk]]) 10:18, 25 September 2016 (PDT)

When copying from other sources and pasting onto wiki, a couple things (so far) to watch: 1) two hyphens does not equal an mdash in wikiscript. You will need to replace them with code: ampersand, mdash, semicolon &mdash; find it on chart at [http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Help:Formatting help page for formatting]). 2) In passages with quotation marks, change them to apostrophes. --[[User:Mary s|Mary s]] 12:40, 17 November 2011 (PST)

== Longer quotes ==
:I feel that two hyphens will do in a pinch. It can be later cleaned up with a search, right? It needs to remain easy for people to pop the wiki open, drop in an excellent quote, and leave, without worrying about syntax. And yes, a real mdash will look better and be easier to read.[[User:WikiAdmin|WikiAdmin]] 18:34, 23 November 2011 (PST)

Succinct is best, 2 paragraphs or less is desirable. If longer than one verse, use <nowiki> <blockquote> </blockquote> </nowiki> and watch for Will's concern below that quotes don't get separated.---[[User:Mary s|Mary s]] ([[User talk:Mary s|talk]]) 16:36, 20 April 2020 (UTC)
:::I was wrong about using two hyphens; they do seem to join now (in an ndash, i guess, but ok, ok).
