Editor emerita and long-time contributor on this wiki and the E.T. Wiki.
Blogging at 2choose.wordpress.com, now converting only1gang.com and realaliens.org to function like wikis, the first in a number of proposed sites to take the wiki to the next level.

"Now our advocacy will be the demonstration of our lives in the world," (Ellen Mitchell, 2022, as heard at her Memorial Service)

"Like ice about to melt" (Lao Tsu)

To correct the one major flaw of the wiki, I propose we "flip the wiki." It is a call

To step away from spiritual dependency on a product
To walk through the uncharted wilderness of independence in designing your own organization for your own personal wiki
To "learn to join," functioning as networked, committed individuals with New Message content driving the work, the organization tacitly forming and strengthening the Group Mind of our Worldwide Community.

It is a grassroots approach that takes the infratructure (the New Message wiki) built by the Society--the wiki sections and pages you make redundant--to:

amplify its reach
connect the members of the Community with convergence on a shared mission
fill major gaps in the current wiki (Steps Index, Briefings from the Allies)
function even when neglected while busy with other tasks
become its own demonstration of "passive promotion"--it is all in the network of relationships and the "zen of copy/paste" (it is divine revelation you are planting with your own hands and thought process, reinforcing the wisdom training and leaving a record of accomplishment.

This approach has roots in worldly wisdom from a setting that is famous for community organizing with shared purpose the uniting force.

Make the New Message findable for yourself first

The wiki need not expand nor drill down any further. Now is the time to demonstrate the higher purpose of the wiki: to replicate itself (and build redundancy) in a network of student-owned sites that spread the wiki "horizontally."

Beginning with the Main Page, to create "blog" posts
supplementing the gaps on the wiki: a Steps Index and quotes based on broadcasts
selecting from the wiki Categories to identify the emphasis of each site in the network
building the site topically like a wiki, copied from sections or short pages of the NM wiki
allowing for more passive advocacy on these sites, dropping all need to promote the content while learning to organize it like a wiki with titles that sort the content.

And, of course, realizing how much can be accomplished through simple, repeated copy/paste:

how this method works with your own neural network and
how linking with other student sites will create an online "external brain," a real experience of artificial intelligence as data that has a mind of its own

The people's wiki

Before the internet, it would have been called a "commonplace book," a personal notebook for collecting quotes and observations.

It's your site and you can make it your own by including observations and worldly wisdom. Everything flows from the organizational strategy that defines the one key word or phrase for each post, borrowing the organization of the wiki with freedom to drill down the topics more precisely and identify connections among them more expansively.

A calling to all students : Decentralize the Wiki, reform Ye Olde Wiki

Let it begin with Steps to Knowledge, off the wiki platform, on WordPress (Wix or Naver, wherever you can archive your Step journal post) or on notecards), if you wish to try out using your platform for keeping your Step journal--ok to keep persoanl content set to "Private" and to link it to the public post that is an excerpt of one main idea from that Step. A series on the practices in Steps could supply more than a hundred posts starting with each quote from Practices to strengthn.

Step 166: My mission is great. Therefore, I am free to do small things.

Make it easy and simple. It can get bewildering at first.

Any basic website builder can get you what is needed, and at little to no cost. If tech-averse, go ahead and use pen and paper. I use both.

Keep as a draft or private until you settle on the strategy for how to find this quote, with tags to sort it with related teachings. Example:

yoursitename.com/practice-acceptance-28
yoursitename.com/influence/212 (for the New Knowledge given in the Steps)
yoursitename.com/must-not-be-deceived-268 (for directives that aren't the day's practice)
Other wiki work can really be set aside in order to focus on the Steps Index project
Step 109: I will not be in a hurry today.
It's still fine to make
Casual edits--quotes with the name and date of the revelation-- are just fine! Put them right there on the page or make a new page if needed.
OR send great quotes to the Wiki editors on the Worldwide Community site.
OR add your quote with name and date of the revelation where you found it under the Discussion tab at the top of every page, if you would like another editor to follow up
Formal edits take practice. The formatting comes easily with repetition. There are simple ways to get enough practice to gain confidence.
Focus on one skill at a time, like cross-references or images or references.
