the desire for revenge

"This is a world of compromise. It is a world of distractions. It is a world with many powerful seductive forces. It is a world of great tragedy that engenders anger and condemnation and the desire for revenge. It is a difficult environment. It is a hazardous environment. And yet it is beautiful and marvelous and holds a greater promise for you and for others."[1]

The vengeful messiah

"The Messiah will not return to the world. It is now the time for Knowledge to emerge. It is the era of human cooperation and human responsibility. No one great leader is going to come and lead humanity into a glorious future. No one individual is going to come and settle all the scores and take revenge upon the wicked. That is the old idea of God."[2]

The vengeful god

"People are impatient. They want a judgment day. They want everything to be finished. They do not want to have to live with great questions, great unresolved questions. They want God to punish others that they themselves cannot or will not punish. They think they know what justice is. And that is why the old God is filled with revenge, anger and repudiation that people are forced to believe in with the threat of death and Hell."[2]

"God did not create Hell and does not punish the wicked. You want to punish the wicked to take out your revenge, to exact your notions of justice. But for God there is only redemption of those who have fallen and who are lost."[3]

The attraction of evil

"Evil has its own attractions, and many fall prey to this, even unknowingly. They behave in a civil manner because society demands it, but beneath they are full of grievance and the desire for revenge, the attractions of darkness."[4]

What God placed within you

"What God has placed within you is not violent. It is not hateful. It does not seek revenge."[5]

"[Knowledge] is the antidote to hatred, to malice, to greed, to obsession, to addiction, and for the need for revenge."[6]
