Watch for

  • Test all links in "Further Study" sections to online teachings--remove the vertical line separating the website address from the title as it should appear--it is not needed for external links--Mary s 08:48, 30 September 2013 (PDT)
  • References: does a single NM source predominate? Could indicate it was a rush job, and more depth is needed. Does the page fully represent the NM teaching on that topic or is more needed? Example: Disappointment Mary s 21:15, 14 November 2013 (PST)
  • The major corridors of the New Message: do the extra-long pages need trimming? Spin off a new page from a heading on the page, retitling it as necessary but leaving a link to it as a heading on the major corridor page. See Knowledge Special attention can be focused on one corridor at a time, following the Free School schedule. --Mary s 22:41, 25 July 2013 (PDT)
  • Any sub-heading with subdivisions indicates a heading that needs to be its own page, with a link replacing it on the original page. --Mary s 22:41, 25 July 2013 (PDT)
  • All pages: The top lines express as briefly as possible the essential NM contribution on the topic--the "elevator speech" answer to "What does the NM say about _____?" The most concise quotes expressing the essence of the subject need NO headers.--Mary s 22:41, 25 July 2013 (PDT)

New Pages

  • There is a Special Page List of Wanted Pages that seems to be created by broken links we might have put in. I ignore it, and prefer to list here on Needed Edits. --Mary s 20:25, 9 November 2013 (PST)
  • Citations are missing from quotes on "Stillness" (perhaps from Stilling the Mind?) and on "The New Message from God" (cited, but may be incorrect). Both locations are flagged on the edit page. --Mary s 12:20, 16 December 2011 (PST)
missing citation on metaphors for Knowledge for the allusion to the labyrinth. --Mary s 13:40, 28 June 2014 (PDT)
  • The link for "Depression" on nm.org "online texts" page goes to wp page; that link needs to go to the wiki on Depression.--Mary s 11:27, 20 July 2013 (PDT)
  • Should we add the actual Steps from Steps to Knowledge in the Wiki? Each Step could have it's own page. The benefits are that this would be searchable by search engines (as opposed to the PDF file on the site), and might become a very handy reference for Steps students, when they don't have their book/PDF around. Thoughts? --Shawn 12:23, 21 August 2013 (PDT)

Society

  • On the Christianity page, the reference to The Lineage of the Messengers has an invalid date. Will?--Mary s 08:31, 24 September 2013 (PDT)

Admin

  • Change references to "There Is a New Message from God in the World" chapters to remove reference to the book. They become stand-alone teachings with the date: April 11, 2001. For example, the Chapter Love and Fear would be cited as Love and Fear (April 11, 2001). --Will 19:37, 13 December 2011 (PST)
This is done in the references and the "further study" sections, but there may still be italics to book references within the main body of pages. Shawn 13:35, 30 August 2013 (PDT)
I will take complete responsibility for this error: The correct style for all NM books is to capitalize them except in the books themselves. My bad. My assignment: to add italics to all book titles as I perform other actions on pages, as time allows. Shawn, your efforts are appreciated for all eternity with great admiration.--Mary s 14:20, 25 June 2014 (PDT)
  • Review A-Z for "white space" -- if there are more than 5 quotes on a page, organize them to help the reader navigate with headers that give the main idea, SEO if possible. --Mary s 11:27, 20 July 2013 (PDT)
  • Review for sufficiency -- some pages (for very particular ideas?) want every citation (but not duplicates if a simple "see also" gets the rest (Buddha, Christ, Muhammad--split them up among them); for others, maybe less is more? (at the moment we're going more for a somewhat exhaustive concordance approach) --Mary s 11:27, 20 July 2013 (PDT)
  • Fix all the orphaned pages by adding them to categories, adding internal links to them on other pages, and adding them to "See Also" sections as appropriate. --Shawn 12:20, 21 August 2013 (PDT)
  • Review the "Quotes" and "Excerpts" sub-headings--if SEO-worthy, change to "Quotes on ____" or "_______ quotes." Otherwise replace with succinct categories for quotes. --Mary s 08:09, 6 November 2013 (PST)
  • We're going to need to document what we do in order to create a job description and manual for wiki work. To start with, just listing the links we go to for self-training here, a list of who's involved, overview of purpose and current reviews/editorial adjustments. --Mary s 08:09, 6 November 2013 (PST) honoring Mitch Jaffe today
