"Human beings are very clever at avoidance."[1]

"People keep themselves stimulated all the time, or attempt to because they do not want to feel the crisis." [2]

Directives

"Do not undermine your ability to receive your mission by being in failure concerning your duties. This is only a form of self-avoidance."[3]

"Everything will be challenged now. Do not think that the good will prevail. Do not use this as an excuse to shrink from your responsibilities. Do not ask God to save the world, for God has sent you and others into the world to save the world. You do not know how to do this, really, if you are honest and humble within yourself. It is a matter for Knowledge to guide you step by step." [4]

Avoidance costs

"If little problems are attended to without so much avoidance, denial and complaint, they don’t take up much of your life, and they enable you to become more aware, more conscientious and more capable in practical ways."[1]

Avoidance as a strategy

"Lying, cheating and avoidance are not effective defenses because they make you vulnerable to error."[5]

"The discomfort that results from being at variance with Knowledge is very deep and profound. It is not something at the surface of your mind. Many people are so compromised in their activities, their values and their pursuits that they have adjusted to this discomfort. This discomfort represents how they feel and how they live. This discomfort accounts for all the desperate attempts at escape, addiction, avoidance, self-deception and other forms of dishonesty that are so manifest here."[6]

"People use confusion as a place to hide, to mask the things that they are recognizing and to avoid being with these things and taking action. It is like a smokescreen so that people will not have to see, know and act and take the risks and face the challenge. It is a group addiction. It is a mass avoidance."[7]
